My name is Michael Szapkiw and I LOVE building a website.

I want to pass my passion onto you for creating websites with easy-to-follow instructions so that you can, single-handedly, create YOUR own website.

Let me say right now that YOU CAN DO IT! Building your own website with your own personal or business custom domain name is much easier than you may think. And I am here to help you take action and make it happen step by step.

Have you heard of people spending hours and hours learning how to code websites?
And that some people take FULL two- and four-year college degrees to learn how to build websites from scratch?

You do not need to be one of those people! 🙂 And you do NOT need to learn HTML and CSS and PHP or any other acronyms you hear about in Web design. The method I will teach you here at BuildingAWebsitePro.com  to build your website gives you an easy-to-use interface for editing and maintaining your website.

If you know how to use word processing software like Microsoft Word, you can create Web pages for a website.

Why the Picture of Me Running on This Page?

The picture on this page is from a Disney half marathon in 2012 (which my wife and I absolutely loved). I chose this picture because it seemed appropriate as an analogy.

To create a business or personal website, you first need to train for it. You can’t expect to be ready with a website overnight. I don’t care what all the gimmicky businesses online try to tell you. The best thing you can do is learn what you need to do, practice to build your strength, then, when it counts, you’ll kick some butt.

I’m no personal trainer by any means, but know that my goal in creating this site is to be the friend running next to you cheering you on along the way so you feel confident to finish strong and not give up. My hope is that the training you find here is as straight forward as possible getting you from merely a website dream to a website reality as quickly (but efficiently) as possible.

Building a Website using WordPress as a content management system is simple, but you still need to learn how to do it right the first time.

Why Did I Create This Website for You?

There are several things that have made me passionate about sharing this information with you and anyone else who is ready to build a website. I started getting really sick and tired of finding website after website with old, difficult to read (not to mention even harder to understand) content trying to teach people how to build a website. I also got tired of the countless websites that boast of “free web hosting” or “build a free website.”

Once you actually sign up with those “free” websites, you realize that you are NOT getting a free website at all. What you get is a website that does NOT have your personalized brand or name in it like you had hoped such as “www.JaneDoe.com.” Instead you get “JaneDoe.Unprofessional.com.” And if you want to have your personalized domain name, you have to pay for it. Why not get your personalized website from the start? And, trust me, nothing says unprofessional like a website that has some third-party’s name in your website address.

I also built this website because I truly have a desire to serve individuals. I want to help individuals to build their own personal websites to promote themselves as forces to be reckoned with on the Internet and in the job market. I also want to help individuals to build their own business websites to better advertise their brands and increase their success.

I understand that many people do not have a big budget (or any budget at all) for hiring an expensive Web designer. If you’re someone who can leverage your lack of money with time, then building your own website is a great decision. Even if you just want to at least get a basic website started on your own and then pay someone later to help you further, that’s still a great strategy. Sometimes you just have to DO SOMETHING and TAKE ACTION!

Do Something and Take Action

Whether you want to create a website from scratch or trash your old website for a better one, the important thing is to do something and take action. For me, it’s easy to think of 1,000 reasons why I shouldn’t do something when it seems scary or too confusing or too much work. But when I commit to do it anyway, I always find out that it was much easier than I ever thought it would be.

Creating your own website is easier than you think it is. The worst thing that can happen is you just need to reach out for help, and there is a lot of free help for WordPress online.  Whether you find help on this website, in the WordPress support community, with your Web host, or by simply doing a Google search for a solution, you’ll be amazed at the free, helpful support you will find online.
