The #1 Most Important Thing Every Business Website Needs

The #1 Most Important Thing Every Business Website Needs

I was with a friend of mine recently who’s in the construction business.

He was looking at a website for one of those HUGE moving cranes that construction companies use.

I took one glance at the site and did a face palm. It wasn’t an epic double face palm like Captain Jean-Luc Picard’s from Star Trek, but it was close.

This was a multi-million-dollar business, yet they were making a huge mistake on their site and they didn’t even know it.

But, you know what’s sad? I see the SAME MISTAKE every day on countless other websites.

Now, I may not be able to help every owner of every website I visit… but I can help you. (more…)

What are Your Burning Website-Building Questions?

What are Your Burning Website-Building Questions?

Hello WordPress Website Builders!

I want to answer your burning questions about websites.

I know I’ve been somewhat quiet online for the past year, but I’ve still been as active as ever with consulting businesses on their websites and digital marketing efforts.

There will be some training and resources coming your way soon to share what’s working and what’s not in business websites.

Until then, I want to know what questions are on your mind.

(I read EVERY question, and will answer as many as possible.)

Thank you.

More to come soon.

All the best in your business and website success,

Michael Szapkiw (pronounced “Zap-Q”)

10 Months Without Facebook: What I Learned About Myself in the Absence of a Facebook Account

10 Months Without Facebook: What I Learned About Myself in the Absence of a Facebook Account

Disclaimer: None of this writing is intended to be a judgment toward you or any of my readers… especially you extreme lovers of Facebook. 🙂 These are merely thoughts and self-reflections I’ve had that I’ve decided to share openly. If they get you thinking and reflecting as well, even better.  This writing came, not out of a need to explain myself, but merely out of a desire to express myself. Feel free to come along for the ride.

What would you do without your Facebook account for one day (assuming you currently have one)?

What would you do without your Facebook account for one week?

For a month? A year?

ForEVER?!!

Okay, now I’m just being dramatic. But what are the feelings you just had in your gut just thinking about life without access to Facebook?

Ten months ago to the day, I deactivated my Facebook account and deleted the app off my iPhone. Yes, “deactivating” is technically still having an account, but the point is I stopped using it cold turkey. (more…)

BAWP 008: An Outlet for the Best WordPress Plugins

AlbumArt-BuildingAWebsitePro-1400x1400-full-rezPodcast Episode Overview

In this episode of Building a Website Pro, we get to the core of WordPress plugins. With over 27,000+ plugins in the WordPress.org database alone (and growing), it’s easy to get lost in analysis paralysis in terms of what to actually install in your WordPress website. I cut through the clutter answering (hopefully most) of your burning plugin questions as well as share the essential plugins I recommend (and even a few “non-essential” ones I really appreciate).

More specifically, in this session you’ll learn: (more…)

A Surefire Way to Donk Things Up in Business, Marketing, and Life

A Surefire Way to Donk Things Up in Business, Marketing, and Life

This will be a short post, but I really wanted to share this with you.

Have you heard the tale of the old man, boy and donkey? This passage / quote comes from Michael Port’s excellent Book Yourself Solid.

An old man, a boy and a donkey were going to town. The boy rode on the donkey and the old man walked. As they went along they passed some people who remarked it was a shame the old man was walking and the boy was riding. The man and boy thought maybe the critics were right, so they changed positions.

Later, they passed some people that remarked: “What a shame, he makes that little boy walk.” They then decided they both would walk!

Soon they passed some more people who thought they were stupid to walk when they had a decent donkey to ride. So, they both rode the donkey.

Now they passed some people that shamed them by saying how awful to put such a load on a poor donkey. The boy and man said they were probably right, so they decided to carry the donkey. As they crossed the bridge, they lost their grip on the animal and he fell into the river and drowned.

The moral of the story? In Marketing, if you try to please everyone, you might as well… Kiss your ass good-bye.

Hope you enjoyed this as I have.

Michael
